Robot Rodeo

Didn't bounce off many boulders this weekend, mostly lurked in the inner dwellings, spent a lot of time on wine glass rims, noses, and book leafs, erasers, bare shoulders, some time between the trees and glancing the pond, some time on pavement. My buddy Paulo got hitched this weekend and was a sight to see, big ol' Italian family, and with him he brought fellas from out of town.

Mo Philips, my man from East High is now putting out some fine tunes for the bambinos. Check him out at http://www.mophillips.com/. One night he sang a bit of Robot Rodeo and a bit from Train Beard, killin' it.

One afternoon I got out for a few hours with 2 of the other Spot coaches: Seth and Jay. Went and explored somewhere between Boulder and Ned'. One nice bloc had a couple v6/7 sorts of problems. Drogger showed the most finesse.

Given all the festivities and responsibilities these days I did end up missing out of the end of year Vail Athletic Club team party and was bumbed 'cause I had a killer winter training with those kids.... guess we'll need t get out this summer.

Gettin' Down to Business

Seconds after weighing 173 I weighed 178 at the other end of the room. Frantically re-weighing found a flat floor (darn ghetto basement apartment) and a consensus around 175lbd, 5 lbs shy of my summer goal. 3 weeks ago I freaked out about my weight as the days of eating snickers and drinking more than my usual cup of coffee just to get through my last week of lectures left me feeling less than energetic, so went out and bought... Wittgenstein. I've named my scale but am not sold on the name... suggestions?

Below is Sergei Kiefel on a nice v4ish sort of highball in the Flatirons.
Me trying Grundle City Boys (v10/11, I think) below. Rumor has it that Ryan Silvan, the man who had the vision and gall to turn "All-Star" into an adjective, sent this thing recently. I've gotten to the last move but can even figure out how to release. Temps are turning up so it may be next season of Fall for this one.
My abode for the next month, study study study, gotta pass that exam.
This summer is the first time I wont be studying for exams in 3-4 years so I hope to climb well and finish some projects. Here's my Spring/Summer/Fall list:

Route:
Tiempos de Ciegas (13b/c), the only route I really want to do. Got the moves down just need to get it wired and send

Boulder Problems (a bit of a Lifetime List):
Famous Anonymous Nowhere, Chatauqua Park (v10/?)
Grundle City Boys, Satellites (v10/11)
Fleshfest, Satellites (v10)
Black Ice, Fern Canyon (v10)
Replacement Killers, Boulder Canyon (v10/11)
The Nickness, Newlin Creek (v10/11)
Chrome, Evans (v12)
No More Greener Grasses, Evans (v12)
Gorillas in the Mist, Evans (v10/11)
Silver Surfer, Evans (v10)
Super Gui, Evans (v10/11)
Last Dance, Evans (v8)
Bush Pilot, RMNP (v11)
Dead Raccoon, RMNP (v11)

Chunky Monkey

Chunky Monkey is a relatively new v8 in Joe's. I also did Enter the Heatwole (v8) on this trip and this thing seemed a bit more pumpy and powerful. It's up right fork in the Team Effort area. Park as for Team Effort and walk up the road for a few seconds. It'll be on your right. Notice the multiple pads stacked as too even out the landing; falling off the top could end you up in the road... and as it turn out, the top-out is no joke. Complete Joe's up date coming. Great trip, got a few problems in and lots o' studying and head clearing done.
